Financial assistance may be available to eligible households who are homeless or who are about to lose their home. The following homelessness programs and prevention services are delivered as a partnership between the Social Housing Division and the Dunnville Salvation Army Community and Family Services and are funded by the Province of Ontario’s Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative (CHPI).
Emergency Housing Program
Short term housing (up to 30 days) in a motel for people who are absolutely homelessness, and assistance in establishing permanent housing
Rent & Utility Bank
Financial assistance, in the form of a loan, for people with rent and/or utility arrears and who are facing eviction
Housing Stability Benefit
Financial assistance for clients of Ontario Works or the Ontario Disability Support Program to start up a new residence or maintain their current residence
Eligible expenses include: last month’s rent, utility connection fees, basic furniture, moving expenses. The Housing Stability Benefit is the replacement program for the former Community Start Up and Maintenance Benefit (CSUMB).
